Simon Cote

Simon Cote (born August 17, 1971 in Concord, Massachusetts ) is an American basketball coach. He was head coach of the White Wings Hanau until November 2019 .

career

Cote played basketball at Wachusett Regional High School in Holden, Massachusetts, and began his coaching career at high school at the age of 17. After graduating from high school in 1990, he studied sports psychology and sports management. At the University of Tennessee , he was still an assistant coach to head coach Kevin O'Neill during his master’s degree. From 1998 to 2002 he worked as an assistant coach of the basketball team at Southern Methodist University in the US state of Texas , before joining the Skyliners Frankfurt in 2002 . Cote became assistant coach of the Frankfurt Bundesliga team and was employed in the youth sector, among other things, within the framework of the Rhein-Main basketball academy. In 2004 he became German champions with the Hessen team. After the end of the 2005/06 season he left the Skyliners and worked in the coming years as a talent scout for the NBA club Denver Nuggets .

In July 2008, Cote was hired by Bundesliga club Gießen 46ers as head coach and released in January 2009. He then worked as a trainer at youth camps in Morocco.

Between 2010 and 2013 he was employed as an assistant coach at the Chinese club Shanghai Dongfang Sharks . In May 2015 he returned to Germany and signed a contract as head coach of White Wings Hanau from the 2nd Bundesliga ProA . In the 2017/18 season, Cote led Hanauer for the first time in the club's history into the championship round of the ProA. There they were eliminated in the first round against the later Bundesliga promoted Crailsheim. In the following game year 2018/19 he missed relegation with Hanau in the 2nd Bundesliga ProA. In November 2019 there was a separation between Cote and the Hanauers. At the time of the breakup, the team occupied a place in the middle of the 2nd Bundesliga ProB.
