Simon Francis Dumont (born July 9, 1986 in Bethel , Maine ) is a professional American freestyle skier .

Career

Dumont first competed in 2003 when he won the Whistler Invitational Superhit and finished fourth at the US Open .

In 2004 Dumont surprised the audience by winning the gold medal in the superpipe at the Winter X Games and ranking well in other major competitions.

In the 2005 season Dumont was able to win the gold medal in the superpipe at the Winter X Games and thus secure the reputation as the best superpipe driver. In other disciplines of the X Games, he was second and fourth.

While filming in Park City , Utah , Dumont jumped another 30 meters on a gap that was approximately 30 meters long, causing a broken pelvis in three places and a ruptured spleen. Eight weeks after this serious accident, Dumont was able to ski again.

At the X Games 2007 Dumont classified himself in the superpipe in second place behind Tanner Hall. In addition, at the largest European freestyle event, freestyle.ch in Zurich (Switzerland), he achieved 1st place in the crossover session and 3rd place in the freeski finals. He is the first freeskier to win the crossover session, and he achieved this with a double front flip in the final.

In 2008, Simon Dumont landed again in the X Games superpipe in second place behind his old rival Tanner Hall. The majority of the audience commented on the result of the youth with incomprehension and shouts of “boos”.

On April 11, 2008, he set a new world record for the highest jump in a quarter pipe with 35 feet or 10.67 meters .

At the Winter X Games 2009 he took third place in the superpipe classification and then won gold in the BigAir competition ahead of superstar Jon Olsson .
