Simon Graf

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Simon Graf (* 1603 in Schäßburg ; † March 25, 1659 in Schandau ; also Simon Graff ) was a German Lutheran clergyman and hymn poet . First he was a field preacher , then from 1634 pastor in Schandau. He died there at the age of 56. He had published a collection of hymns , but it can no longer be determined whether the lesser known songs in the collection were made by him. He is also often credited with the song Christ, who is my life, dying is my profit , which, however, was published as early as 1608 and therefore cannot come from Graf.
