Simon Janczewski (born January 26, 1926 in Reims as Zygmunt Janczewski , † January 5, 1989 ) was a French football player and coach of Polish origin.

Player career

Janczewski was born in France to Polish parents and was a citizen of his ancestors' homeland until the then eight-year-old received French citizenship on April 26, 1934; In view of this, he changed his birth name Zygmunt to Simon . From 1943 he ran for an amateur club from Soissons . The 174 centimeter tall defender was discovered by the first division club FC Sochaux and signed by them in 1948. Although substitutions and substitutions were not yet possible at the time, he was able to establish himself in the team in the course of his first season and became a top performer on the right side of defense in the course of the following years. The 1952/53 season brought him his first national title by winning the Coupe Charles Drago and he reached the runner-up with his team, but Janczewski also lost his regular place.

In 1953 he signed with league rivals Girondins Bordeaux ; at Bordeaux he was again undisputed and also belonged to a top team. In addition, the team managed to move into the national cup final in 1955, which however was lost 5-2 to Lille OSC . A year later, the relegation followed, so that Janczewski had to go into the second class for the first time. After a second division year in which promotion was missed, he ended his active career in 1957 at the age of 31 after 214 first division games without a goal and 35 second division games with one goal.

Coaching career

Immediately after his playing career, the ex-professional began working as a coach in an amateur club from Facture near Bordeaux in 1957 . In 1960 he moved to a club from Arès and took on the same function until 1962. Most recently he coached a club from Cazaux ; However, he did not get a job as a coach at a professional club.
