Simon Schiffrin
Simon Schiffrin (born September 29, 1894 in Baku , then the Russian Empire , now Azerbaijan , † July 22, 1985 in Paris ) was a French film producer of Russian origin.
Life
Simon Schiffrin, the early 1920s behind the scenes of French silent film succeed in the movie business productions of entry, produced in 1927 with the German-French co-production The Apaches of Paris ( Apaches of Paris ) his first film. In the 1930s, several French film projects followed, in which he acted as production manager, including the feature film Hafen im Nebel ( Le Quai des brumes , 1938) with Jean Gabin . He lived in the United States during the Second World War , then returned to France, where he produced the Fernandel comedy Die Rote Herberge ( L'Auberge rouge ) in 1951 . In 1964 he won an Oscar in the category "Best Documentary Short Film" for Chagall , a documentary about the artist Marc Chagall , for which actor Vincent Price slipped into the role of the narrator. 1966 was Schiffrin one of the producers of the star-studded film agent Poppy Is Also a Flower ( The Poppy Is Also a Flower ), in which James Bond director Terence Young led the Director. Schiffrin later also worked for television.
