Simunul is a 4th income class municipality in the Tawi-Tawi Province of the Philippines . The census on August 1, 2015 found a population of 31,223, mostly Muslim.
The language is Sama , also known as Sinama or Samal. It is said that the first Muslims from the Philippines arrived in Simunul. The first mosque in the Philippines was built there by Sheikh Karimul Makhdum and is called the Sheikh Karimul Makhdum Mosque . There are six beaches in Simunul.
