Sinan Krause (* in Baghdad ) is a German - Iraqi technician . He was kidnapped in Iraq in 2007.

kidnapping

Krause was kidnapped on February 6, 2007 together with his mother Hannelore Krause in Iraq . Sinan Krause and his mother were abducted from their home in Baghdad on February 6, 2007 by six unknown men, allegedly members of a group called the "Arrows of Righteousness". The group is likely to belong to the Al Qaeda spectrum . Before her kidnapping, Hannelore Krause had lived in Iraq for decades as the wife of an Iraqi doctor. As a condition for the release of the two hostages, the kidnappers asked the German government to withdraw all troops from Afghanistan . On March 14, 2007, then Federal President Horst Köhler appealed to the kidnappers to release the hostages. Köhler said: “I appeal to you to release Ms. Krause and her son immediately. Too much innocent blood has been shed in Iraq. Hold on. Return the hostages to their families. "

Hannelore Krause was released on July 10, 2007, probably because of her poor physical condition, after being held hostage for 155 days . On September 9, 2007, a video emerged showing her son Sinan saying goodbye to his mother. In it, the kidnappers set a final ten-day ultimatum , if it expired they threatened the murder of their remaining hostage.

The group of kidnappers allowed several ultimatums to elapse in 2007 demanding that the Bundeswehr soldiers withdraw. According to information from the news magazine Der Spiegel , Sinan Krause's last sign of life was from June 2007. Contact with the kidnappers had been severed since the beginning of 2008. Sinan Krause's father, Mohamed al-Tornachi, unsuccessfully appealed to the kidnappers to release his son on April 24, 2008.

Sinan Krause's fate and his current whereabouts are still unknown today. However, the German authorities now assume that Sinan Krause is no longer alive, even if this is not officially announced.
