Sinew is a German alternative rock / progressive rock band from Marburg , where it was founded in 2004 .

The band name refers to the song Sinews by the band Drive Like Jehu . The musicians liked the sound and meaning of the word and so decided to give the band that name.

Band history

After Andreas Mette, Sotirios Kelekidis and Andreas Tiedemann's band Psycho Gambola broke up, the three decided to look for a singer for a new band. In 2003 they then rehearsed with various musicians until the suitable singer was finally found in Sascha Junker. The joint project was christened Sinew.

Together they worked on the first songs, which were finally released in winter 2004 on the EP Silenced . A short time later Andreas Tiedemann left the band, which was replaced shortly after by Sascha Christ. So the band found a firm line-up. In the following time the band worked on the songs for the planned full-length debut.

The Beauty of Contrast was released on Alveran Records on February 29, 2008 and was highly praised by critics and fans. This was followed by a one-week tour and many shows in Germany, Switzerland and Poland.

On May 25, 2012, the second album, Pilots of a New Sky, was released, now on Quality Steel Records after Alveran Records was dissolved in 2009. It achieved top marks in many music blogs and magazines and was voted one of the best metal albums of 2012 on laut.de. In November 2015, the band announced their breakup.
