Johann Culik

Johann Culik (born November 19, 1946 in Stockerau ) is a former officer in the Austrian Armed Forces , most recently in the rank of lieutenant general . From 1999 to 2011 he was the military commander of Lower Austria .

Life

Johann Culik was born on November 19, 1946 in Stockerau and, after graduating from high school in Stockerau in 1965, joined the Austrian Armed Forces as a one-year volunteer . He then completed his officer training at the Theresian Military Academy in Wiener Neustadt , where he was retired as a lieutenant in the tank troops in 1969 and came to the Wallenstein barracks in Götzendorf an der Leitha .

After serving as platoon commander and company commander, he trained as a general staff officer at the National Defense Academy in Vienna from 1975 to 1978 . As a result, he became chief instructor for tactics and logistics at the Theresian Military Academy and from 1982 became Chief of Staff of the Military Academy, Commander of the Army Supply Regiment and, from 1985, Deputy Commander of the Military Academy and Head of the Institute for Officer Training. From 1998 to 1999 Johann Culik was in command of the Army NCO Academy in Enns.

On September 14, 1999 the brigadier was appointed military commander of Lower Austria and promoted to divisional officer (renamed major general from 2002 ). He followed division general Walter Mayer , who had to resign due to an illness.

Brigadier Rudolf Striedinger took over his function as military commander on May 26, 2011 . In October 2011, shortly before his retirement, he was promoted to lieutenant general.

Johann Culik was a lecturer for leadership technology and communication at the Technical University of Graz as well as a trainer and consultant in the private sector.

He is married, has one son and lives in Wr. Neustadt .
