Singer-Akai Nidahas Trophy 1998
The 1998 Singer-Akai Nidahas Trophy was a three-nation tournament that was held from June 19 to July 7, 1998 in Sri Lanka in one-day cricket . In the tournament, which was part of the 1998 international cricket season, teams from India and New Zealand took part alongside the host . In the final India was able to prevail against Sri Lanka with 6 runs.
prehistory
Sri Lanka and New Zealand played a tour in Sri Lanka immediately before , which Sri Lanka won 2–1 in the Test series. India previously participated in the 1998 Coca-Cola Triangular Series , which it also won.
format
In a preliminary round, each team played against each other three times. There were two points for a win, one for a draw or a rejection. The first two of the group qualified for the final and played for the tournament victory.
