Sinjaja Ptiza ( Russian Синяя птица , German  Blue Bird ) was a Soviet passenger aircraft .

development

The Sinjaja Ptiza, so called because of its blue paint, was built in 1922 at the suggestion of the military aviator I. A. Walentei at the Moscow Aviarabotnik plant in order to meet the high demand for passenger aircraft after the October Revolution and the destruction of the Russian Civil War . The responsible for execution engineer Nikolai E. Schwarew served two as the starting pattern Schneider - reconnaissance aircraft , the Red Army had captured by the German intervention troops. Blackev removed the observer's rear rifle post and replaced it with an enclosed two-passenger cabin. Entry was through a door on the left. The pilot's cockpit remained open. A 220 hp engine from Daimler-Benz was used as the drive.

The renovation was completed in early 1923 and I. G. Sawin began the test flights in the summer. It turned out that the aircraft had become very tail-heavy due to the passenger cabin. When fully loaded by two passengers, the center of gravity shifted to such an extent that the flight characteristics were negatively affected. Despite some changes made, this fact could not be eliminated, which is why development was discontinued.
