Sioux Ghost Dance is a short film from Black Maria Studios that was shot on September 24, 1894 by cast members on the Buffalo Bill's Wild West Show .

The film shows six Indians in full war paint performing a ghost dance.

Background information

The film historian Charles Musser regards this film as significant in terms of film history, as it was the first time in film history that Indians were in front of the camera. However, despite the title, it is not known whether the Indians are really Sioux .

The film was originally released under the title Ghost Dance . The sequel Buffalo Dance followed a little later .
