The Sir Ignatius Kilage Sports Stadium is a football stadium with an athletics facility in Voco Point , a suburb of Lae , Papua New Guinea . It was named after Ignatius Kilage (1941–1989), the fourth governor general of the country. The stadium is part of the Sir Ignatius Kilage Sports Complex .
history
The stadium was built in 1990 for the 1991 South Pacific Games and is part of the Sir Ignatius Kilage Sports Complex . The facility was renovated in 2016.
Events
The sports facility was home to matches of the Papua New Guinean national soccer team , including during the third round of the 2018 FIFA World Cup qualifying against the Solomon Islands in June 2017.
