The Sisargas Islands ( Galician : Illas Sisargas , Spanish : Islas Sisargas ) are a small archipelago of uninhabited islands off the town of Malpica de Bergantiños on the Costa da Morte in the Spanish autonomous community of Galicia .

The archipelago, which lies at the narrowest point 750 m off the coast with Cabo San Adrián , is formed by the three islands Sisarga Grande , Malante and Sisarga Chica as well as a number of surrounding islets such as Chalreu, Xoceiro and Atalaxeiro . The distance to Malpica is 1 km and to A Coruña 35 km.

The islands are mostly rocky, Sisargas Grande has many cliffs, with a highest elevation of 92 m; There is a jetty on the main island and a small beach in the south. A first lighthouse was built in 1853 and in ancient times there is said to have been some kind of religious fortification that was destroyed over time and by Norman attacks.

There is a rich bird life. There are species such as the black-backed gull , the kittiwake , petrels and guillemots . There are also colonies of shags , Alpine swifts , steppe gulls and Alpine crows .
