Works

The essence of Sissa Micheli's work is its multi-layered, epic levels of meaning. What can be seen always refers to something else, to the continuation of the story, additional legibility or one or more other versions. The works suggest a profound curiosity on the part of the artist, an open astonishment that is related to ancient wondering, the philosophical basis for questioning being. The known, the everyday, the apparently there is questioned and turned around its own axis in order to check its meaning and inscription. Always with seriousness, but above all with pleasure in storytelling, in the picture (ending), and with a pinch of irony. Uncovering and concealing or disguising serve equally as a strategy.
