Skaldowie (2012)

Skaldowie (in the German-speaking area Die Skalden ) are a Polish rock music group that was founded in Krakow in the summer of 1965 . The founders were professional musicians, students and graduates of the Cracow University of Music : Andrzej Zieliński (pianist, composer, singer), his brother Jacek Zieliński (violinist and trumpeter), Zygmunt Kaczmarski (guitarist), Janusz Kaczmarski (violinist), Feliks Naglicki (bass guitar) and Jerzy Fasiński (drums).

The name of the group indicates that the band is building on the Scandinavian skald tradition.

They occupied an important place in the Polish rock music scene. Her third LP, Cała jesteś w skowronkach (“You are completely surrounded by larks”) is still one of the most successful records of her career. This record title found its place in colloquial language and means something like "to get into joyous enthusiasm". They owe a large part of their success to the texts by Agnieszka Osiecka , Wojciech Młynarski and Leszek Aleksander Moczulski. Most of the German-language adaptations were made by Wolfgang Brandenstein . Many compositions contain elements of highlanders -Volksmusik. Between 1970 and 1973 the group played progressive rock . Some of the titles she wrote back then are almost 20 minutes long and contain quotes from classical music in addition to references to folk music. Around 1990 the popularity of the band decreased, so that since then hardly any new albums have been released.
