Wolfgang Brandenstein

Wolfgang Brandenstein (born April 24, 1929 in Berlin ) is a German radio presenter , television entertainer and songwriter . He had his significant successes for the record label AMIGA as well as in the radio and television programs of the GDR .

life and work

Wolfgang Brandenstein, born in Berlin in 1929, is one of the mentors of GDR entertainment. After graduation u. a. In psychology, he worked as an announcer, conférencier, hit writer, quiz master, director, ensemble leader and as a presenter of radio and television programs. He became known u. a. with the hit cocktail on the German broadcaster or with the TV show What can it be? asks Wolfgang Brandenstein .

This colorful Saturday evening TV show was broadcast live from October 11, 1958 to May 29, 1960 in 14 editions from various parts of the GDR - for example Rostock , Jena , Sonneberg and Magdeburg . The opening broadcast from the cultural hall of the Chemische Werke Buna in Schkopau was also the screen premiere for the then 17-year-old actress Jutta Hoffmann , who on Brandenstein's decision that the one who comes on stage with the most money saved wins the round with a big one Cigar box full of pennies appeared on the TV show and was then hired as an assistant for further episodes until she graduated from high school.

Brandenstein formed a successful team especially with the composer Gerhard Siebholz and Arndt Bause . In 1973 he was awarded the GDR Art Prize.
