Gerhard Siebholz

Gerhard Siebholz (born April 4, 1932 in Eberswalde ; † February 13, 2003 in Berlin ) was a German pop and musical composer . He was one of the most famous composers in the GDR .

Life

Gerhard Siebholz already had his own band as a schoolboy. After studying sound engineering at the Hochschule für Musik in Berlin , Gerhard Siebholz started his career as a composer, arranger, producer and sound engineer at VEB Deutsche Schallplatten Berlin , where he supervised recordings for the Amiga entertainment music label in the 60s and 70s . He has written over 1000 hits, including for Ruth Brandin , Monika Hauff and Klaus Dieter Henkler and Chris Doerk . He also composed for international artists, a. a. for Nina Lizell and Lili Ivanova . He wrote many popular hits for his wife, the singer Britt Kersten . He also composed film music for DEFA . He also wrote the theme song for the GDR news program Current Camera . In 1972 he was awarded the GDR Art Prize.

Gerhard Siebholz had been married to Britt Kersten since the early 1960s and died of heart failure in a Berlin hospital on February 13, 2003.
