Lili Ivanova (Bulgarian: Лили Иванова ; born April 24, 1939 in Kubrat ), born Liljana Petrova Ivanova, is an internationally known Bulgarian pop and Estrada singer and music producer. Her appearance and work in music and television as well as in fashion made her a pop culture media icon. She is known in Germany by her stage name Lili Ivanova .

biography

After graduating from a school for nurses in Varna in 1959 , two years later she also completed a musical training in Sofia . She made her breakthrough with the song "Saturday Evening" in 1963. Since then she has given more than 12,500 live concerts worldwide.

Life

Lili Ivanova has so far 67 albums, including u. a. Quadruple platinum and two gold records released in France and Greece , and approximately 500 singles in Japan , France, Great Britain , Russia , Germany , Spain , Romania , France, Greece, Poland , Turkey , Hungary and South America.

Her worldwide hit Camino alone has sold at least 15 million single copies. In the republics of what was then the Soviet Union , the single was sold over 10 million times. Camino has been covered over 4,000 times worldwide.

So far she has given 15,000 concerts worldwide and her repertoire now includes over 1,000 songs in over 20 languages.

Their international recognition is reflected in the prizes and awards they have received - gold records in France and Greece, Grand Prix victories in Paris , Rio de Janeiro , Santiago de Chile , Sofia (2 × Golden Orpheus), Bratislava (Golden Key), Barcelona , Istanbul , Tokyo , Sopot and Izmir .

In 2002 photos were taken for Playboy and photos for Healthier magazine.

At the end of 2005 she received an award from Sony Ericsson and voted into the “All Time TOP 40” with her song Camino . In West and East Germany she became known for her German-language songs. The authors wrote for the singer , among others, Klaus Munro , Ralf Arnie , Arnold Fritzsch , Gerhard Siebholz , Horst Krüger , Michael Hansen and Dieter Schneider .

She had her first appearances in the Federal Republic of Germany in 1968. Klaus Munro and Ralf Arnie produced their recordings for the then label BASF , followed by appearances with Nero Brandenburg at the RIAS and Dieter Thomas Heck at the international radio exhibition in what was then West Berlin.

In the DFF report Evening in the spotlight (1981) she was seen alongside Dorit Gäbler , Rolf Herricht and Helena Vondráčková . She was a guest in the TV shows Ein Kessel Buntes , There is music in it , Bong . In the Berlin Friedrichstadtpalast she participated in several revues. She gave guest appearances in the Palast der Republik and in the Metropol-Theater .

From 1984 to 1990 it could be seen in over 1,600 live events in what was then the GDR. In 1987 Lili Ivanova was Bulgaria's official cultural ambassador during the 750th anniversary celebrations in what was then Berlin (East).

The German entertainer Dagmar Frederic covered three songs by Lili Ivanova: Bunte Wagen (Original: Panairi ), Spring at the Sea and Don't let the roses wither .

Lili Ivanova sang the title songs for several Bulgarian film productions, including Wassil Mirtschew's Tango (1969) and Walo Radew's Damned Souls (1975).

She has received numerous national and international awards and honors, including the “Woman of the Year 2008” award in Sofia in December 2008.

In 2009 she gave a sold out concert in the legendary Music Hall Olympia in Paris , and several TV stations recorded the concert.

In her hometown of Kubrat, Lili Ivanova organizes an annual festival for young talents, the winners are sponsored by her and sometimes also produced.

On November 22nd, 2012, Lili Ivanova & Grand Li Orchestra started their live tour in the sold out Arena Armeec Sofia in front of 15,000 spectators. The concert was broadcast on the largest Bulgarian television station at Christmas.

Lili Ivanova was one of the BG fashion icons again in 2012, according to a survey on November 26, 2012 by Fashion Lifestyle Magazine under the direction of Prof. Stoykov.

On March 31, 2013, she was again a star guest in a show in the Moscow Kremlin , which was also broadcast on the first television channel Pervy kanal .

On May 24, 2013 Lili Ivanova was honored for her mega concert in the Arena Armeec Sofia at the BG Radio Music Awards 2013. For the first time in BG Radio's history, listeners honored a live concert.

In Brussels , she and her band performed again on October 12, 2013.

The documentary The Inexplicable, about the life of Lili Ivanova, premiered on December 21 and 22, 2013. Georgi Toshev's film was shown for the first time on December 28, 2013 on Bulgarian television.

On February 13, 2014, she presented the multimedia show Love in the Opera at the Sofia State Opera . The concert was broadcast on Bulgarian television at Easter 2014.

On May 8, 2014, a research institute from Switzerland published a study in which, alongside Mercedes , Plácido Domingo , and FC Barcelona, Lili Ivanova stood for the best quality .

Lili Ivanova was a member of the international jury of the Slavonic Bazaar Festival , which took place from July 10 to 14, 2014 in Vitebsk, and appeared as a star guest. Together with her, the jury included the winner of the Eurovision Song Contest 2009 Alexander Rybak from Norway , Jadwiga Poplavskaya from Belarus and the winner of the Grammy Marlow Rosado from the USA. The jury was chaired by the Russian composer Kim Breytburg .

She performed with Andrea Bocelli on August 31, 2014 at the Bulgarian Army Stadium in Sofia.

She finished her national tour 2014 on November 6, 2014 in Sofia in the National Palace of Culture (NDK).

In December 2014, the new album Der Dichter set a new sales record in Bulgaria, which was distributed exclusively by the main sponsor Lidl in December 2014 .

The new album Der Dichter was awarded four times platinum by the IFPI and has set a new sales record in modern Bulgaria since 1990.

On May 16, 2015 Lili Ivanova made a guest appearance in London at the sold-out Troxy concert hall .

Lili Ivanova opened the new sports and entertainment Bulstrad Arena in Ruse with a concert in the hall, which was sold out with 5100 spectators on July 23, 2015.

The Lili Ivanova Tour 2015 also took us to Canada in autumn . a. to Toronto and Montreal to sold out concerts.

In December 2015, Lili Ivanova and Lidl Bulgaria released a CD box with five discs under the title Neveroyatno / Incredible for the tenth anniversary of the discount chain in Bulgaria.

The album Lili Ivanova was released in June 2017, on October 26th she ended her national tour with two concerts in the National Palace of Culture in Sofia.

In 2018 and 2019 their stadium tours took place in Bulgaria.

Her 80th birthday was celebrated with special programs on Bulgarian and Russian television.

In December 2019 the double album Sevdana was released as LP, CD and digital album.
