Nero Brandenburg (* 28. September 1941 in Berlin as Horst Peter Paul Brandenburg ) is a German moderator , journalist , singer and entertainer .

Life

After training as a postal worker, he worked as a commercial clerk on behalf of the Berlin Senate at the “Berliner Jugendclub e. V. ". He worked as a moderator, disc jockey, program designer and club manager in the youth clubs “dachluke”, “ Jazz-Saloon-Berlin ”, “Swing Point” and “Sloopy”. He was discovered and invited to audition at the Berlin radio station RIAS , where he has subsequently been a freelancer for RIAS youth radio since 1968 and in this role also moderated the program “RIAS-Treffpunkt”. From 1980 to 1993 he was a permanent editor at RIAS for the area of ​​"light music" and moderator of several programs, including the "RIAS hit parade" that he initiated. In addition, from 1985 to 1990 he hosted the “Harbor Concert” at Radio Bremen . From 1995 to 2005 he was the presenter of various programs on Berlin 88acht .

His greatest success as a singer was the cover version Dingeling of the song My Ding-A-Ling by Dave Bartholomew , which was sung by Chuck Berry among others . Despite being banned from playing on the radio, over 150,000 copies of Chuck Berry's single were sold. About 20 other recordings followed, including the Laubenpieper Polka about Berlin's allotment garden culture .

Since 1995 he has appeared in various musical revues with Bert Beel , Stefanie Simon and Herbert Götz.
