Skanskaskrapan ( German  "Der Skanska - (cloud) scratch" ) is a 22-story, 86-meter-high, red and white striped high-rise on the Göta älv river in the center of the Swedish city of Gothenburg , near the four-masted barque Viking and the Göta Älvbron bridge . Officially, the building is also called Lilla Bommen , named after the port area of the same name, Lilla Bommen, around the neighboring guest harbor . The vernacular gave the Skanskaskrapan the nickname Läppstiftet (dt. "The lipstick"), which on the one hand refers to the red coloring and the beveled tip of the building, while other sources lead the name back to the Diocese of Göteborg ( Swedish Göteborgs stift ), which maintains an office in Skanskaskrapan. Another nickname is Vattenståndet ( Eng . "The water " or "The water level "), because it lies exactly on the waterline and also has features of a phallus in its shape.

The idea for the building came up in 1983 when the Gothenburg municipality wanted to provide employment and development in the region and the construction company Skanska intended to strengthen its market position as a house builder and property owner. Skanskaskrapan was then designed by the British-Swedish architect Ralph Erskine and built by Skanska under the direction of Gösta Backmark. Because of the loamy soil in Gothenburg, up to 90 m long, stabilizing piles were required for the foundation of the house . When it was officially inaugurated in 1989, it still housed the main Skanska office in Gothenburg, which it no longer owns. The current owner is the Swedish real estate company Vasakronan AB .

The building consists of a high-rise and a low-storey extension that houses offices for numerous companies. Offices are housed on 27,596 m² on an area of 31,625 m². 2501 m² are reserved for shops and 1528 m² for other uses.

On the top floor there is the closed glazed viewing platform Götheborgs Utkiken , from which there is a wide view of the city and its surroundings as well as the harbor.

The Swedish sculptor and artist Claes Hake (* 1945) created a stone sculpture group that was placed between the quay and the foyer of the house.
