Renārs Rode (born April 6, 1987 in Riga ) is a Latvian football player . The defender currently plays for SK Sigma Olmütz in the Czech Gambrinus League .

Career

Renārs Rode began his career in his hometown Riga in the youth department of Skonto Riga, JFC Skonto, which took over the name Olimps Riga in 2005 . At Olimps this played his first season as a professional in the 2008 season, the left footer came to a total of 18 games in the Virslīga , and he was able to score a goal. With the club from Riga , he played the first qualifying round of the UEFA Cup against St Patrick's Athletic in the 2008/09 season , but lost 3-0 in the two legs.

At the beginning of the 2010 season Rode moved to his home club Skonto Riga. At Skonto, the tall defender under coach Aleksandrs Starkovs was able to win the Latvian championship straight away . In the 2nd qualifying round of the Europa League 2010/11 he failed with Riga at FC Portadown . Under new trainer Marians Pahars , Rode tries to defend last year's title in the 2011 season .

For the Latvian national soccer team , Rode was invited to a test match against South Korea in 2010, but was not used there. He made his debut in 2013 against Lithuania .
