After a 2-1 defeat and a 2-2 draw against Stattena IF , however, the team missed the promotion to the first class. However, since the second division received official status at the end of the following season and was reduced from five to two seasons, the club rose after a sixth place in the table in the third division, from which it was passed directly to the fourth division. After rising again in 1932, the team established itself in the third division. At the end of the decade she was playing for a return to the second division. In 1952, Skara IF reported back in the third division, but rose again straight away. In 1955 the team returned again and surprised us as second behind the IFK Trollhättan , with whom they rose to the second division together. However, the level of play was too high for the two clubs, so that they relegated directly again together with Fässbergs IF . Again, the descent was followed by a crash into fourth class. After rising again in 1960, the club established itself in the third division, from which it was relegated ten years later. In the meantime only appearing in fifth class, the local rival IFK Skara temporarily outperformed the club and entered the fourth division for several seasons. After Skara IF had played in the fourth division again in the early 1990s, the two clubs merged in 1995 after relegation to the fifth division under the name Skara FC.

The Skara FC immediately played for promotion to the fourth division. In the first year, the club missed promotion in the promotion round, where he was finally successful in 1997.
