history

Between second and third league

Karlstad BK was founded on October 19, 1923 as a merger of the football departments of Karlstads Idrottsklubb (KIK) and IF Göta . When a uniform league system was introduced in Sweden, the team came to the then third-class Division 3 Nordvästra , from which they rose in 1936 as a season winner in Division 2 Västra . In the same year, the club merged with the remaining Karlstads IK and from then on acted as Karlstads BIK, which resulted in the nickname "Kubik".

After two years in the second division, the club rose again. In the third division he played for promotion. This succeeded in 1941, but the team missed relegation. In 1944 they returned again, this time the team established itself in the second division. 1948 succeeded behind the Örebro SK the runner-up, the promotion to the Allsvenskan was missed with the same goal difference by one point. Four years later, the best placement in the club's history to date was repeated, this time the gap to the season winner AIK , who won 15 of the 18 league games, was twelve points.

The success was followed by the crash, the club rose in the following year as penultimate table together with IF Viken from Åmål in the third-class division 3 Västra Svealand . The team was able to distance the co-relegated and Billingsfors IK and rose again directly as the season winner. First, she placed in midfield, before 1957 as bottom of the table again a league change was due. Again the direct rise was achieved, which in 1963 was followed by a one-year interlude in the third division. The club then played in the second division for six years.

In 1969 the club rose again from the third division. In the same year the club merged with Karlstads FF and gave itself the current name. The descent was followed by an immediate ascent, after which, however, the class could not be held. The team established itself in the front area of Divisison 3 Västra Svealand . 1976 succeeded the relay victory, in the promotion games, however, the team failed behind Alvesta GoIF and Vasalunds IF . After two third places in the following years, the leap to the second division succeeded in 1979 when they could leave Motala AIF and Jonsereds IF in the promotion round behind. Again, the stay in the second division lasted only three years, but in 1985 they returned.

Crash in the minor leagues

1989 Karlstad BK rose again from the second division. In the 1990 season, the team occupied only one relegation place in the third-class Division 2 Västra and thus had to compete in fourth-class for the first time in the club's history. As a season winner before local rivals Norrstrands IF , the direct return to the third division succeeded. Here she stayed in the following years and mainly played against relegation. 1996 succeeded with the fourth place with nine points behind the season winner and second division promoted Assyriska Föreningen a respectable success. After a fifth place in the following season, the club again occupied only one relegation place at the end of the 1998 season. In the fourth-class division 3 Västra Svealand , he also only occupied one relegation place and slipped into the sixth division due to a league reform due to the introduction of the Superettan .

In the sixth division Division 4 Värmland , Karlstad BK missed promotion to the fifth division in the first year as third in the table. In the following years the team played against the crash in the seventh division, but established itself in the middle of the league in the following years. In the 2007 season, the team won 17 of their 22 season games and rose as the season winner in Division 3 Västra Svealand , in which , as second in the table, the direct march into the fourth division was missed.
