Skogens IF is a Swedish football club from Gothenburg . The team played a total of ten seasons in the country's second-highest division .
history
Skogens IF was founded in 1922. When the Swedish league pyramid was introduced towards the end of the decade, the team rose to third class in 1933. There it established itself over time in the front table area. After two runner-up championships and one failure against Skara IF in the promotion round succeeded in 1941 after successes against IF Heimer in the promotion round for the first time the promotion to the second highest league. If the best result was achieved with a fifth place in the table in 1943, the club rose again two years later with five plus points and was subsequently passed through to the lower-class league area.
In the mid-1950s, Skogens IF returned to the third division, where the team lasted three seasons. After rising again in 1961, the club quickly established itself in the front division, in 1965 it was six points ahead of IK Oddevold to win the relay. Initially, the team played against relegation, but in 1968 they surprised as third in the table behind Jönköpings Södra IF and Skövde AIK . The success could not be confirmed, already in the following season the club occupied a relegation place together with Karlstad BK and Kinna IF . Three points ahead of the same point chasers Göteborgs AIK and Trollhättans IF , the team started again two seasons in the second division. Together with IFK Ystad , Kungshamns IF and Perstorps SK , the club said goodbye to second division football at the end of 1972. At first he still played for promotion, but rose in 1975 to the fourth division. Between 1978 and 1980 briefly again third class, the club crashed as a result in the lower class league area.
In 1998 Skogens IF rose again to the fourth division and missed the direct march into the third division behind Ytterby IS . Two years later he was relegated again, which was followed two years later by going to the sixth class. Then the team rose to the eighth league, from which they rose again in 2010.
