IF Heimer is a Swedish football club from Lidköping . Long-time third division, the team played in the early years of Swedish league football temporarily in the second highest Swedish division .

history

IF Heimer was founded on October 1st, 1906 and adopted its current name two months later. First, the team competed in regional football and in 1916 reached the final of the district championship against IF Elfsborg . Four years later, the club triumphed for the first time in this competition, before the success was repeated two years later.

Nevertheless, IF Heimer missed the qualification for the Allsvenskan in 1924 and was assigned to the then unofficial second division. In the previous year, Anders Rydén, the club's first player , had already worn the Swedish national team's jersey . For four years the team played in the second division, the best result was the sixth place in the Västsvenska season in the opening year. After relegation in 1928, the club was passed through to the fourth division, from which he rose again in 1940. The team immediately took first place in their third division season, in the promotion round they missed the return to the second division against Skogens IF . Two years later she repeated the season win, this time the Krokslätts FF prevailed. Then the club held in the middle of the table, in the course of a league reform in 1947, however, he was downgraded to the fourth division.

1957 IF Heimer reported back in the third division and knew how to surprise again as a climber with a third place in the table. The stay lasted until relegation in 1961, but in 1964 the club returned again. After the direct relegation, the club dominated its fourth division and then established itself in the third division. In 1968 with eight points behind Kinna IF third in the table, the team occupied places in the middle of the table. After the renewed descent in 1974 followed the immediate resurgence. In 1978 the team made national headlines when they moved into the semi-finals of the national cup , but there they failed at Malmö FF . Also in the league she sat in the top third of the table and won her third division season in 1982. In the promotion games, she first prevailed against IK Sleipner , with two 0-1 defeats she then failed at Karlslunds IF . Four years later, the club was again the victim of a league reform and was relegated to the fourth division.

Due to the worse goal difference compared to Tidaholms GoIF , IF Heimer missed the direct promotion. Subsequently, the team was largely in the top group of their fourth division season, only in 1993 succeeded in renewed promotion. In the third division, the club mostly played against relegation. If the team saved themselves in the relegation games in 2001 , they were relegated the following year. Although she rose two years later, again victim of a league reform, the third division stay lasted only one season. Two years later, the team was passed through to the fifth division, where it then held.
