history

Göteborgs AIK was founded in 1924 as a general sports club. Fifteen years later, the football team reached the third division for the first time, but rose again after two seasons. It was not until 1961 that it was back again, but this time the club established itself in the third division and three years later made it to the second division for the first time as a season winner before Skogens IF . There the team won only four games of the season and rose as the bottom of the table together with Halmstads BK and local rivals Västra Frölunda IF again directly. Before the trio Kinna IF , Trollhättans IF and IK Kongahälla , she repeated the relay victory in Division 3 and thus celebrated the direct re-promotion. Again the level in the second highest division was too high, together with Finspångs AIK and the local competitor Redbergslids IK the club missed the league.

The Gothenburg AIK football team found themselves in the middle of the third division after relegation. 1970 once again behind Skogens IF the second place in the season, the club missed the league in 1973 with only seven plus points. After the direct relegation, the club held briefly in the third division, but rose again in late 1977. 1982 briefly fifth class, the team played largely fourth class. In the course of a league reform in late 1986, it was downgraded to the sixth division. The football department then split off from the entire club and founded an independent club. The team has since competed in the lower class part of the Swedish league pyramid in the Gothenburg regional area.
