Skate is a video game from EA Black Box for PlayStation 3 , Xbox 360 and smartphones . It was released in the US on September 14, 2007 for Xbox 360 and September 25, 2007 for Playstation 3. In Europe it was available from September 28, 2007 for the Xbox 360 and October 5, 2007 for the Playstation 3.
action
The player takes on the role of a self-made skateboarder in the fictional city of San Vanelona. Similar to Grand Theft Auto , the tasks waiting for the player, as well as shops and skateparks are shown on a small map in the game. By solving the tasks, his awareness increases and sponsors are attracted, which later even enables participation in an event reminiscent of the X Games . There are various tasks in which, in addition to showing tricks and high scores, you also have to drive against AI-controlled opponents. Completed tasks unlock new clothes, equipment, characters and other tasks. The player always has the option to create small video clips (15-25 seconds long) in which he can determine the camera position himself and insert effects. He can then make this available to other players on EA's website.
In contrast to the main competitor, the Tony Hawk series , tricks are not performed by pressing various key combinations, but by moving the analog stick in conjunction with other keys. To be able to grind, the player must land on a grindable surface. The way it lands ultimately determines the type of grind. Improving properties, such as balance or jumping ability, as well as learning new tricks does not work like in "Tony Hawk" with the help of the distribution of stat points. All possible tricks are available to the player from the start. It is the time invested, and the resulting increased dexterity and experience, that make more difficult tricks possible.
Skate it
Skate It is the Wii version of the console game. It has a slightly different storyline and the same locations, plus the levels Paris , Rio , London , San Francisco and Shanghai . The character of the game is no longer based on open world, but you can select the individual, limited levels. The biggest difference, however, is in the controls. Skate it can be played with sensor control. Particularly noteworthy is the support of the “Balance Board” for Wii, with which you can really imitate tricks with the board and then perform them in the game. The game was also released for the Nintendo DS .
