The Skidegate Channel ( German "Skidegate Channel" ) is a 50 km long strait in the Canadian archipelago Haida Gwaii off the west coast of British Columbia . It separates the two main islands of the archipelago, Graham Island in the north and Moresby Island in the south, and connects the Hecate Strait in the east with the Pacific Ocean in the west. At its narrowest point (at 53 ° 9 ′ 7 ″ N , 132 ° 17 ′ 0 ″ W ) the Skidegate Channel is only about 25 meters wide.
The strait is named after the Haida community Skidegate on the southeast coast of Graham Island. A ferry service crosses the Skidegate Channel between Skidegate and Alliford Bay on Moresby Island.
