Scolecite agate

As Skolezitachat be pseudomorphic of agate to Skolezit referred.

The Skolezite agates come from basaltic rocks from the Rheinhessische Schweiz west of Alzey in Rhineland-Palatinate , the so-called Rotliegend (Permian, approx. 280 million years old). They are mostly found, however, rearranged in younger sediments of the Wiesbachterrasse (Tertiary). However, these pseudomorphoses cannot only be attributed to the Skolezite. Many pieces also point to other minerals such as B. aragonite , barite , calcite and various zeolites out.
