Skull Records was a German right-wing rock label based in Bad Überkingen , Baden-Württemberg , which existed from 1991 to 1994. Rock-O-Rama later acquired the rights to the label's old albums and released new editions.
Label history
Skull Records was founded in 1991 by the brothers Oliver and Roland Schaffelhuber for the booming right-wing rock market in Germany. The label signed well-known bands such as Kraftschlag and English Rose. Shortly after the first releases, voices accused the label of exploiting the bands. Some bands are said to have only received a few free CDs. Customers of the label also complained about high prices for poor quality bootlegs and undelivered goods.
The end for the record company came when the two brothers were sentenced to 300 working hours and a fine of 25,000 DM for the first Kraftschlag CD despite the prohibition . The two brothers attempted a failed comeback in 1997 with the record companies "Streetrock" and "New Master Records".
The rights to some old Skull Records releases were bought by Rock-O-Rama, who started offering their own releases under this label from 1995 onwards. The Cologne Higher Regional Court ruled on September 3, 1999 (Az .: 6 U 3/99) that the Schaffelhuber brothers never owned the rights to use the recordings by the band Drom and, consequently, Rock-O-Rama as well has not acquired any rights to it. Indexed albums were not reissued, but some albums were shortened around the songs that served as the basis for indexing and published under different names.
