Elmshorn sculpture garden

Coordinates: 53 ° 45 ′ 10.7 ″  N , 9 ° 39 ′ 22.4 ″  E The Elmshorn Sculpture Garden is a publicly accessible green area in Elmshorn . Since the year 2000, a green strip between the Krückau and a large parking lot, the so-called “butter market” in the city center, was created with works by North German artists. The garden begins at the bridge at the end of the harbor in Elmshorn and ends at the next road bridge. In between there are five crossings for pedestrians that lead across the exhibition grounds. One of the first exhibits, “Portato” by Thomas Karp, was relocated to the listed “gatehouse” on the site. In summer, sun loungers are set upwhen the weather is good, and there are also open-air cinema screenings.

In the immediate vicinity

• Directly at the harbor bridge at the western beginning there is another sculpture that shows different fish species in the tidal range of the Kückau. However, it is not mentioned in the official descriptions.
• At the east end there is a sculpture by Wilhelm Petersen on the facade of the Volksbank Pinneberg-Elmshorn , which adorned the “Flora Fountain” at the train station for many years.
