SkyBahamas Airlines temporarily ceased operations in 2019. The information in italics refer to the last status before the end of operation. |
SkyBahamas Airlines (under the SkyBahamas brand identity ) is an airline based at Nassau Airport in the Bahamas .
The company had to cease its flight operations on July 8, 2019 on the instructions of the civil aviation authority of the Bahamas. This came about after SkyBahamas' previous Air Operator Certificate expired on June 29 of the same year and the company simply continued operations while awaiting the renewal of that same expired license. The civil aviation authority reserved the re-granting of the AOC and criticized safety aspects, while the managing director Randy Butler described the criticized points as "ridiculous" and referred to the worsening financial situation in view of the lack of cash flow .
Destinations
SkyBahamas flew regional destinations such as B. Cat Island , Freeport , Exuma , Abaco and San Salvador in the Bahamas and Fort Lauderdale in the USA .
