After construction began in 2006, the tower reached its final height of 292 meters in 2009 and was completed in mid-2010. The tower on Reem Island was briefly the tallest structure in the city, but was towered over by the emerging The Landmark by 32 meters (324 meters high) from September 2010, and after its completion in 2012 it is no longer the tallest building in Abu Dhabi.

The building planned by the architects Arquitectonica was commissioned by Tameer Holding Investment and Sourou Real Estate. Tameer Holding Investment is currently building other high-rise buildings in Abu Dhabi, e.g. B. the 300 meter high Tameer Commercial Tower . The 74 floors of the Sky Tower are used as offices in the lower area, while luxury apartments can be found above.

The load-bearing elements of the tower are made of reinforced concrete , the facade is completely clad with glass.
