Skyline Chili is a restaurant chain from Cincinnati , Ohio ( USA ) with over 150 (2010) restaurants in the states of Ohio, Kentucky , Indiana and Florida .

history

It was founded in 1949 by the Greek emigrant Nicholas Lambrinides. The restaurant owes its name "Skyline Chili" to the view of the Cincinnati skyline that Lambrinides had from his first restaurant, which was located in the Price Hill district. The family opened a second restaurant in 1953. In the 1960s, the company's success accelerated. When Nicholas Lambrinides died in 1962 at the age of 82, his sons continued the business. By the end of the century, the restaurant chain expanded to over 100 branches. In 1998 it was sold to the investment company Fleet Equity Partners , which owns the traditional line, u. a. as far as the recipes are concerned, continued.

Skyline Chili is often referred to as a fast food restaurant , as the processes in the restaurants and food preparation are as routine as in large fast food chains. Compared to these, however, you are served at the table at Skyline Chili and receive free crackers while you wait.

One of the specialties is the so-called Cincinnati Chili , a type of chili con carne that is served over spaghetti (e.g. 3-Way) or hot dogs (Coney or Cheese Coney). By using certain spices, the Cincinnati style chili of this restaurant chain has a particularly characteristic taste. The recipe, which is officially referred to as a well-kept family secret, is important. Skyline Chili is the official sponsor of the Cincinnati Reds and the Columbus Blue Jackets .
