The Skytrain Ice Rise is a large, flattened and peninsula-shaped ice dome 80 km in length in the West Antarctic Ellsworthland . It extends from the vicinity of the Meyer Hills in the Heritage Range of the Ellsworth Mountains in an easterly direction to the Filchner-Ronne Ice Shelf .
The United States Geological Survey mapped it based on its own surveys and aerial photographs of the United States Navy from 1961 to 1966. The Advisory Committee on Antarctic Names named it after the Douglas C-47 Skytrain , which had been in operation since the US operation Highjump (1947 –1948) was used for material and personnel transport to the Antarctic until the late 1960s .
