Until December 2006, Slagelse Kommune was a Danish municipality in what was then Vestsjællands Amt in the southwest of the main Danish island of Zealand . Since January 2007 it has been part of the new Slagelse municipality together with the former municipalities of Hashøj , Korsør and Skælskør .
