Slartibartfass are a Pagan Metal band from Ulm that was founded in early 2005 . The band name was chosen after the planetary builder Slartibartfass from the novel series The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy . He specializes in building fjords and won a prize for the fjords building Norway . So the name is supposed to express a Nordic bond, but without restricting the band too clumsily to this topic.

Band history

Slartibartfass was founded in early 2005 and played their first concert in March 2006, which was quite successful in the scene. In June 2006 they released their first album, Nordwind , which was produced on their own and therefore still reveals certain weaknesses in the sound. The label Trollzorn Records / SMP came across the band via the homepage and after short negotiations took over the distribution and promotion in Germany. As a result, the band got a few concert appearances and was able to further increase their popularity in the German metal scene . In 2007 they signed a contract with Trollzorn and released their second album Nebelheim in July of the same year . On this they began to play real bagpipes, which became their style feature. After Nebelheim was released , further concerts and first festival appearances followed. In 2009 they released their third album, Funkenfeuer , after signing a record deal with the Ketzer Records label. In the following years the band played other concerts, including headlining shows for the first time. On November 11, 2011, the band released their fourth album covered in black after the release date had to be postponed several times due to difficulties with their new label (Twilight Mailorder).

style

Slartibartfass play medieval- themed Pagan Metal with partial Humppa -like similarity in the style of Finntroll .
