Slim Jim Phantom (born March 20, 1961 in Brooklyn as James McDonnell ) is the drummer of the band Stray Cats and had a major influence on neo- rockabilly music in the 80s . He was also a member of the rockabilly band The Head Cat, founded in 1999, along with Lemmy Kilmister and Danny B Harvey .

Phantom is known to play while standing. Impressed by a press photo of Gene Vincent and the Blue Caps, on which the then drummer Dickie "Be-Bop" Harrell was photographed standing behind his drums, Phantom was inspired to his special style. Even when Phantom found out that this pose was only shown for the photo, he did not change his style of play, which has now become a trademark.

On October 21, 1985 Phantom was next to musicians such as Eric Clapton , Ringo Starr and George Harrison guest at Carl Perkins , who recorded the television concert Blue Suede Shoes: A Rockabilly Session in London's Limehouse Studios .

From 1984 to 1992 Slim Jim was married to the Swedish actress Britt Ekland .
