Ruth Smeeth

Ruth Smeeth (June 2017)

Ruth Smeeth (born June 29, 1979 in Edinburgh ) is a British politician and member of the House of Commons for the constituency of Stoke-on-Trent North .

Ruth Smeeth's maternal ancestors emigrated to the United Kingdom in the 1890s to escape persecution of the Jews in the Russian Empire .

Smeeth went to school in Bristol and graduated from the University of Birmingham with a degree in Political Science in 2000 . After that she worked for Sodexo, among others .

In the general election in 2015 , Smeeth was elected as a member of the lower house and has since represented the north of Stoke-on-Trent .

Smeeth stands for a pro-Israeli policy . She speaks out against a second referendum when the United Kingdom leaves the EU . Before the vote she supported the UK remaining in the EU.
