The Smiths Bench is a bank-like survey in the north of the East Antarctic Victoria Land . It rises 8 km northwest of Mount Baldwin in the Freyberg Mountains .
The Advisory Committee on Antarctic Names named it in 1964 after William M. Smith, a psychologist and member of the team of the United States Antarctic Research Program who traversed and explored the Victoria Lands between 1959 and 1960.
