Snape (Suffolk)

Snape is a village in the English county of Suffolk ( East Anglia region ). It is located on the River Alde and is close to the town of Aldeburgh . Snape has about 600 residents.
Archaeological excavations
Several excavations have taken place near Snape at a burial ground from Anglo-Saxon times, including a boat grave that dates back to an earlier time than the famous ship grave of Sutton Hoo .
Snape Maltings
Snape is home to the Snape Maltings event, exhibition and shopping center . It is housed in the restored buildings of a former barley malt house as well as other commercial and industrial operations, most of which date from the mid-19th century. The Snape Maltings are internationally known for their concert hall, which opened in 1967 and which is the venue for most of the events of the Aldeburgh Festival for Classical Music founded by Benjamin Britten in 1948 , and which has excellent acoustics . The extensive area also houses shops, galleries, cafés, restaurants and holiday apartments.
Harry Potter
One of the main characters in the Harry Potter novels, the Potions Master Severus Snape , is named after the village of Snape. Joanne K. Rowling said in several interviews that she was often inspired by maps for the names of her fictional characters.
