Sniff 'n' the Tears is a British rock group that was formed in 1977. The front man and the only permanent member is Paul Roberts.
Career
By far the band's greatest international success was the song Driver's Seat , which was released in 1978. The first presentation of this song was on the television show Top of the Pops ; However, this developed into a disaster for the band, as the single was initially not marketed due to discrepancies with the publisher. In the same year a tour through Germany and Spain followed; later as opening act for Kenny Loggins and Kansas also through America.
Driver's Seat was released in Germany in 1979 but only made it to the airplay charts . It was only when the song was used in a Nissan commercial in 1991 that it entered the sales charts in Germany. In 2002 the song was used again for a commercial, this time by the Blaupunkt company .
The band was unable to match the success of their first work Fickle Heart , which includes Driver's Seat , with any of their later released albums . In 1983 the group disbanded. In 1992 it was reorganized. In 2001 Paul Roberts released the album Underground under the name Sniff 'n' the Tears , which he recorded on his own.
Paul Roberts painted most of the album cover art himself.
In 2011 a new studio album was released.
