action

1924, Moscow. Professor Phillip Filippovich Preobrazhensky ( Yevgeny Yevstigneyev ), the excellent surgeon, achieved remarkable results in rejuvenation. Continuing his research, he does an experiment - transplanting human pituitary glands and genital organs to the dog. The street dog "Scharik" (English bullet), which became an experimental animal, was given access to the professor's splendid apartment and was given good nutrition. The organ donor was the alcoholic, rioter and rowdy - Klim Tschugunkin, who was killed in a fight.

The results of the operation exceeded the professor's expectations. In the Sharik, the limbs have expanded, the wool fell out, the ability to speak and human character traits developed in the dog. Rumors spread through Moscow of the miracles that happened in the professor's house. Although something human was apparently happening to Sharik, Klim Tschugunkin gave him the traits of character and the pernicious habits. But it didn't bother him to adjust to the new society. His family name becomes Sharikov.

Mr. Sharikov ( Vladimir Tolokonnikov ) turns the life of Professor Preobrazhensky and the residents of the apartment building into a pure nightmare. Incited by the chairman of the Domkom von Schwonderom (Roman Karzew), he writes the denunciations on the "creator", demands living space from him and threatens him with the revolver. The professor has no choice but to recognize the experiment as unsuccessful and to restore Sharikov to its original state.
