The Société électrique de l'Our , or SEO for short, was founded on May 29, 1951 and is a stock corporation under Luxembourg law with a share capital of 31 million euros.

Companies

SEO is based in Luxembourg City . With 40.3% each, the Luxembourg state and the German energy supply group RWE Power are the largest individual shareholders in Société Électrique de l'Our. The AG employs around 200 people and achieved a turnover of around 40 million euros in 2012.

founding

In a state treaty between the federal state of Rhineland-Palatinate and the Grand Duchy of Luxembourg , energy storage by the Vianden pumped storage plant was agreed in 1958 and the Société électrique de l'Our was founded. Since then, SEO has continued to expand its field of activity in the renewable energy generation segment.

The Vianden pumped storage power plant for the delivery of peak electricity with an installed capacity of 1096 MW in turbine operation or 850 MW in pump operation is one of the largest plants of its kind in Europe. A total of ten turbines are installed. In order to obtain a further 200 MW output, the construction of an eleventh turbine began in 2012, which was put into operation on November 4, 2014.

SEO also operates seven run-of-river power plants on the Moselle , four of them in France and, together with the Enovos company, the Esch, Rosport and Ettelbrück hydropower plants along the Sauer via the SOLER company . All three plants are owned by the Luxembourg state. Their total output is 47 MW. The company also operates five wind farms in the Grand Duchy of Luxembourg with a total output of 48 MW.
