The Kater Socks (* late 1990 / early 1991 ; † February 20, 2009 ) was the house cat of the family of former US President Bill Clinton and was known internationally as the "First Cat".

Life

Socks was found as a young animal by Chelsea Clinton in Little Rock / Arkansas in early 1991 and was taken in by the Clinton family as a pet. Because of its white paws with otherwise almost completely black fur of the cat "was Socks " ( Engl. Socks , stockings ) called.

After Bill Clinton was elected US President in 1992, he and the Clinton family moved to the White House in Washington, DC in early 1993.
