Georg Soenderop
Georg Soenderop (born March 9, 1854 in Gnesen , † April 4, 1909 in Berlin ) was a Berlin-based German building contractor who mainly built railway lines . In many cases he also participated in the financing, organization and management of the railways he built.
Life
Soenderop was born as the son of the bookseller Rudolf Soenderop (1821–1875) and Karoline Soenderop. Treumann (1829–1906) was born in Gnesen (today Gniezno). Nothing is known about his training. He was first mentioned in the Berlin address book in 1881, and his company Soenderop & Co. for the first time in 1882. His partners are not known by name. Their contributions must not have been insignificant, however, because they enabled Soenderop to participate in various railway projects between 1881 and 1887. In addition to the construction work, he usually also took on part of the share capital, often managing the company for a few years. In all cases, Soenderop sold the stake and management again after a few years in order to be able to turn to new projects.
In addition to railway construction, Soenderop tried other business areas. In 1887, together with Otto Reinhold from Hanover, he founded the Dessau Kieselguhr company Reinhold Co. In 1889, the company Soenderop & Kühn , operator of the Fürstenbrunn spring in Berlin , was established with his participation (participation until around 1894). The Berlin address book 1894 also names Soenderop (once) as a wine merchant, in 1895 as the owner of Wasserversorgungs-GmbH Soenderop & Co.
Soenderop was also involved in a number of major construction projects in Berlin (Friedrichstrasse, Dorotheenstrasse, Rixdorf).
From 1893/1894 the railway business was transferred to Albert Sprickerhoff (from 1894 to 1897 associated with Louis Degen to form Sprickerhoff, Degen & Co. , based in Hanover).
His grave is in the old cathedral cemetery of the St. Hedwigs parish , Liesenstrasse 8, in Berlin.
