Klaus von Krosigk

Klaus-Henning von Krosigk (born September 3, 1945 in Halle (Saale) ) is a German horticultural historian and former horticultural director in the Berlin State Monuments Office .

Life

Klaus von Krosigk is the son of forester Henning von Krosigk . In 1970 he passed his Abitur at the Westfalen-Kolleg in Paderborn . From 1970 to 1976 he studied garden architecture, garden history and art history at the University of Hanover with a degree in engineering. From 1978 he set up the first specialist department for garden monument preservation in the Federal Republic of Germany in Berlin and became director of horticulture in Berlin (retired in September 2011). Since 1993 he has been a member of the International Committee of Historic Gardens and Landscapes ( ICOMOS -IFLA). From 2008 to October 2014 he was President of the German Society for Garden Art and Landscape Culture eV (DGGL). Before that he was chairman of the DGGL working group “Historical Gardens” for 10 years. In 1994 he was appointed deputy state curator of Berlin. In 2006 he received his doctorate on the history of Berlin garden monument preservation. Since 2009, von Krosigk has been the successor to Gebhard Graf Hardenberg and chairman of the Brandenburg section of the German Castle Association .

He is considered the founder of garden monument preservation in the Federal Republic of Germany in the successor to Dieter Hennebo and published numerous specialist publications in Germany and abroad. Von Krosigk was a member of the Scientific Commission of the German Foundation for Monument Protection .

Since 1983, Krosigk has held several teaching positions at various German universities and technical colleges.

    On a city tour for colleagues, Krosigk explains some of Berlin's green spaces and gardens. The documentary received the journalist award of the German National Committee for Monument Protection in 2012 .
