Sofja Olegowna Palkina ( Russian Софья Олеговна Палкина , international according to World Athletics spelling Sofiya Palkina ; born  June 9, 1998 ) is a Russian hammer thrower .

Career

Sofja Palkina has so far distinguished herself as a hammer thrower with two international successes.

Palkina threw the 3 kg hammer in 2015 at the Youth World Championships in Cali, Colombia, 67.82 m, which secured her gold in front of Turkish Deniz Yaylacı (67.01 m) and Chinese Shang Ningyu (66.84 m). Also in 2019 at the U23 European Championships in Gävle , Sweden, Palkina was able to achieve gold rank - starting as an " Authorized Neutral Athlete " - when she promoted the sports equipment over 71.08 m in the third attempt and both Belarusian Nastassja Maslawa (69.36 m) as well as Sara Fantini from Italy (68.35 m) left behind.
