The Quaid-e-Azam solar park is an open-air photovoltaic system under construction near the Pakistani city ​​of Bahawalpur . It is located in a desert area in the Punjab province and is named after Muhammad Ali Jinnah , who is considered the founder of the state of Pakistan and there as Qaid-e Azam ( قائد اعظم "Greatest Leader") is honored.

In April 2015, the first expansion stage with 100 MW was put into operation. The construction cost was 131 million US dollars. The facility was opened by the Prime Minister of Pakistan, Nawaz Sharif , and the Chinese President Xi Jinping . Used came solar cells made of polycrystalline silicon . Another 300 MW went online in June 2016.

The plan is to expand the system to a peak output of 1  GW . The remaining 600 MW still outstanding are to be installed in 2016 [obsolete] .
